Six Oral Health Tips

1. Stay hydrated.

Summer deprives our body of water, making us feel dehydrated time and again. You must stay hydrated by drinking a lot of water and other fluids such as coconut water and fresh juices. However, avoid fizzy and sugar-heavy drinks because they harm your teeth.

Staying hydrated keeping tooth decay at bay and protects your gums tissues and skin.

2. Don't let your mouth go dry.

Dehydration, or dry mouth, can cause a build-up of plaque, tooth decay, and bad breath. These can lead to dental cavities and gum diseases.

You can avoid this by sipping water throughout the day to avoid your mouth going dry.

3. Brush your teeth twice a day.

Summer and sweet tooths go hand-in-hand, but a lot of sugar can cause cavities and tooth decay. Since it is hard to simply avoid ice cream and cold drinks, it is important to keep up oral hygiene. In addition to this, high levels of chlorine in pools can erode and

weaken the teeth, so brush your teeth right after swimming.

Brush twice a day for two minutes to help keep dental problems at bay.

4. Use mouth guards to prevent dental emergencies.

Summer means that playing a lot of sports, but this can lead to sudden accidents. You can prevent a lot of the damage in these accidents by making sure that you and your kids are wearing mouth guards when playing sports.

Wearing a mouth guard protects your teeth from cracking and chips and keeps you from damaging your lips, cheeks, and gums in the event of an accident.

5. Snacking healthy.

With the kids being home all day, they probably want to snack more often. Undoubtedly, the best summer snack is fresh fruit. In addition to this you can stock your kitchen with protein-rich foods with nuts and cheese.

With healthy options available at home, you can allow your kids to snack healthier.

6. Go for a dental check

Summer is a perfect time for dental check-ups. Getting yours and your kid's teeth cleaned, and oral health checked ensures that there are no dental problems all summer long. After all, dental problems are the last thing you want to ruin a summer holiday.

Now that you're summer ready with these six tips, go make the most o this splendid season. Take precautions, because as we all know "Prevention is better than care".
